Moringa Banana Blueberry Breakfast Oats – Easy Oatmeal Recipes – Vegan & Vegetarian
Spring is finally here and it almost feels like summer, it’s 20 degrees Celcius here in London!! 😀
I can’t live without oatmeal because it keeps me going for hours on end and it’s the perfect time to have colourful oatmeal breakfast bowls as we move towards summer.
Today for breakfast, I had a moringa banana blueberry oatmeal.
Moringa powder tastes a bit leafy, like spinach. It is made from Moringa leaves.
Moringa is a superfood with amazing nutritional properties.
In India, moringa powder has been used to treat common colds and cough. In Ayurveda (traditional Indian medicine), it is used to relieve pain, itching, headaches and improve eye sight.
Scientific evidence has found that moringa leaves are rich in Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Riboflavin, Iron and Vitamin A.
The benefits of consuming Moringa are supported by scientific research as below (according to healthline.com):
- Moringa powder is rich in antioxidants that can protect against aging and age related disease
- Moringa powder may lower blood sugar but more research is needed to confirm this
- Moringa powder may have anti-inflammatory properties that may help with chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease but more research is needed to confirm this
- Moringa powder may help reduce cholesterol

One wonderful way to implement moringa into your diet is to add it to your breakfast oatmeal. It does have an unusual taste when you first eat it but combining it with sweetener and other fruits allows you to get used to the taste.
INGREDIENTS:
50g raw oats
Water to cook the oats (or you can use dairy milk or plant-based milk)
1/2 tsp moringa powder
1/2 tsp honey/maple syrup or any other sweetener
1 banana
Handful of blueberries
1 tsp chopped pistachios
METHOD
Cook the oats in the water/milk for 2-3 minutes and keep stirring while cooking them.
Take off the flame.
Add your moringa powder and sweetener (honey).
Mix, mix, mix!
Add your banana on top
Add the blueberries
Add the chopped pistachios
Enjoy!
