I cannot understand how back in the day, we stuck to only one oats breakfast every single day when there are so many ways to enjoy oats.

Guys, I kid you not, this spinach smoothie with oats, moringa powder, banana, pineapple, kiwi fruit, tangerine and chia seeds was just something else. I thought I was having ice-cream for breakfast!! It was so good and I can’t believe that such a yummy oats breakfast can be so healthy! How could healthy food taste good, right? Well, here’s the spinach green smoothie recipe that will prove that this is true.

I froze the pineapple and bananas the night before. Inorder to make a thick smoothie oats bowl, you need to avoid adding water. You can add milk if you like but then this green smoothie breakfast bowl won’t be thick enough to scoop. You want it to have a thick consistency for scooping. Alternatively, if you do not have the time to sit and eat your oats breakfast smoothie bowl, you can add milk and just drink it up.

 

Ofcourse, I had to add moringa powder to this spinach smoothie. Moringa powder is a superfood that has all 9 essential amino acids and high protein too.

Aim to add moringa powder to as many smoothies as possible. Moringa powder has a strong spinach like taste, so what better way to mask its taste than through this spinach smoothie.

Adding rolled oats to this green smoothie makes it super filling and kept me going for ages. Oats have a lot of fibre and many other nutrients. Adding them to your smoothie bowls is always a good idea.

 

I also added chia seeds to this spinach oats breakfast smoothie bowl as they are also a superfood with many benefits.

I did not add any sweetener to this spinach smoothie. It was just perfectly sweet – thanks to all the amazing fruits full of Vitamin C that I added.

Did you know that eating green leafy vegetables alongside fruits increases the absorption of iron? This spinach and moringa powder smoothie with a multitude of fruits makes for the perfect combination for the absorption of iron.

 

I used Greek yoghurt for this green smoothie making it non-vegan but you can simply swap it for vegan yoghurt, or skip the yoghurt altogether and add plant-based milk such as almond milk or cashew nut milk. Oat milk works as well.

Makes 2 portions

INGREDIENTS:

 

2 handfuls of baby spinach leaves

1 frozen banana

1/4 frozen pineapple

1 tangerine peeled

1 kiwi fruit

1 tsp chia seeds

1/2 tsp moringa powder

1/4 cup rolled oats

2 tbsp Greek yoghurt (opt for vegan yoghurt if you are vegan)

 

For Garnishing:

 

Strawberries

Blueberries

Dessicated coconut flakes

Rolled Oats

METHOD:

 

In a strong blender, add the spinach, banana, pineapple, tangerine, kiwi fruit, chia seeds, moringa powder, 1/4 cup rolled oats, Greek yoghurt and blend until smooth.

Pour the spinach smoothie into your smoothie bowl and garnish with strawberries, blueberries, coconut flakes and oats.

Enjoy cold!!
