Does this herbal tea have any adverse side effects?

As with all foods, it’s always best to try a little bit to start out with (if you’ve never tried it before) to check if you have any side effects.

There are a few instances when you need to be careful when consuming turmeric:

  • If you have iron deficiency anaemia, avoid consuming turmeric in high quantities as it may prevent the absorption of iron
  • Turmeric may increase bile production which may be problematic if you have gallstones or liver disease
  • Turmeric has blood thinning properties, so check with your GP if you take blood thinning drugs
  • Ashwagandha powder in large doses may cause stomach upset, diarrhoea, vomiting.
  • Ashwagandha powder should not be eaten during pregnancy as there is some evidence it may cause miscarriages.
  • Ginger may cause heartburn
  • Ginger may cause burping, diarrhoea and stomach discomfort when taken in high doses

Consult your GP or Ayurvedic practitioner if you have any concerns.

SUSTAINABLE PREMIUM PACKAGING:

My hope is to make my packaging as sustainable as possible for mother Earth – this tea comes in plant based pyramid tea bags which can be thrown directly into your food bin.

They are wrapped in a compostable bag and then finally packed in a recyclable paper box.

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY:

I am now supporting three charities that aid with food security and women’s education & empowerment;

  1. SUFRA, a food bank and charity. They give food parcels to those who can’t afford food and organise community kitchens which bring together people who are unable to afford a restaurant meal, may be feeling lonely or socially isolated. I will be donating a portion of my profits to aid in this cause and I will also sponsor community kitchens. Better Food Mood is all about eating well and living well, and I am thrilled to be supporting this cause.
  2. Pratham UK – A charity that provides education and employment to girls/women in India from under-privilleged societies
  3. The Invisible Girl Project – rescues girls from female gendercide and sex trafficking and provides a safe home for them
